Shoei X12 Helmet Review by Helmet Stuff.com
So it’s time for us to review the new Shoei X-12 helmet. This is the top off the line full face helmet which replaces the older X11 helmet. With a price tag of $839.99 this helmet is aimed squarely at the Arai Corsair V market. Riders looking for the best in quality and technology from a helmet, regardless of cost, which can be used on track days or on the street. The X-12 actually weighs a little more than the X-11 which is surprising for a newer version of a helmet.
Shoei X12 Review Summary:
As expected, the X-12 is a great helmet, with excellent build and finish. Those riders wearing an X11 will enjoy the new top of the line offering from Shoei. One thing we would say is that we would have expected better ventilation from a helmet costing $839. We didn’t have a chance to test the Shoei X12 on the race track. Riders that have worn the X12 on a track day may wish to email us with their comments on ventilation and cooling.
Pros: Comfortable Fit and Quality
Cons: Poor ventilation and weight.
HelmetStuff.com Verdict: Overall the Shoei X12 is a great quality helmet for racers with deep pockets.

Shoei X-12 Ventilation
The X11 was always considered a well ventilated helmet. The X-12 uses the same system of chin, brow, and a top vent. But the X-12 does not appear to meet the same standards of cooling and ventilation that were attained by the X-11.
One deliberate reason for this could be that the X-12 is aimed at track day riders racing at higher speeds. Although with the race-theory in mind, we wonder why the rear exhaust vents are extremely difficult to adjust when wearing gloves. |
Shoei X-12 Helmet Fit, Comfort and Internal Shape
The X12 uses the same internal shape as the X11. This shape is similar to the RF1100. The X-12 shell shapes are manufactured in 5 sizes. This adds to the manufacturing cost, but means that riders can get themselves a better fitting helmet with improved weight distribution.
The internal helmet lining and cheek pads of the X-12 can be removed for washing or replacement. Cheek Pads are available in 6 thicknesses to help achieve a better fit. Overall the Shoei X-12 offers excellent fit and comfort.
Shoei X12 Colors
The X12 is available in a selection of solid colors or graphic designs.
X12 Solids:

Safety Rating
The X-12 meets Snell M2010 standards for helmet safety.
X12 Faceshield
