More Helmet Vents
The RF1100 now has 6 exhaust and 3 intake vents. The exhausts vents help to expel stale air from the helmet, and help cooling. The positioning of these vents also improves aerodynamics. In an aim to reduce shield condensation, Shoei have developed a chin bar intake vent that helps to draw expelled air past the shield and out through the top of the helmet to reduce condensation.
5 Shell Sizes
Unlike many helmet manufacturers, Shoei manufacturers the RF1100 in 5 shell sizes (XXS – XXXL).
Safety Standards
The RF1100 meets Snell M2010 standards for helmet safety.
CW-1 Face Shield
The Shoei RF1100 uses the new faceshield (CW-1) which is taller and wider for improved visibility. The old CX-IV lense from the RF1000 will not fit the new RF1100 helmet.
According to Shoei, the CW-1 face-shield protects riders from 99% of the sun’s damaging UVA and UVB rays, as well as providing distortion-free vision.
Pinlock Shield
The CW-1 shield can be used with Shoei’s Pinlock system. This is basically an anti fog liner for the interior side of the lens.
Shield Removal Made Easy
The RF1000 featured a tool-less syste, for removing the shield (QRBP - Quick Release Base Plate). On the RF1100 Shoei have developed the QRSA - Quick Release Self-Adjusting system. The shield is spring loaded onto the base plates which mean that the shield is pulled back into its proper position once closed – eliminating the need to adjust the base plates for wind and water proofing. This works much more easily when changing a clear shield, since it can be difficult to see the mechanism on the base plate with a dark tinted shield.
Removable Liner
The RF1100 cheek pad and inner liner can be removed for washing or replacement. Cheek pads are available in 6 thicknesses for a custom fit. This liner also features a small gap near the cheekpads to allow room for eyeglasses or sunglasses. This gap make sit easier to put-on or take-off glasses when wearing the helmet.
Helmet Chin Bar
Shoei have developed a larger chin bar for the RF1100. This is in response to customer feedback to allow easier pulling on and off of the helmet (past the nose).
Neck Pad
The integrated neck pad provides wind and noise reduction for a quiet ride. Like the cheekpads and inner liner, the breath guard and chin curtain can also be removed for washing or replacement,
Riders switching from the RF1000 may notice a slight reduction in wind noise with the new RF1100.
