SHOEI Multitec Helmet Specifications
An all new shell design not only delivers a sporty and luxurious look, but decreased wind resistance and improved aerodynamics as well. Aan aero spoiler has been included in the shell design to reduce lift and the resulting neck fatigue at high speed. Flip up helmets suffer a handicap in noise when compared to traditional full face helmets. The seams between the face cover and the body of the helmet create turbulence and noise. Every effort has been made to minimize this turbulence on the Multitec. From smoothing and tightening the tolerances of the seams, to covering the face cover pivot axis, noise reduction was a key goal in the design of the Multitec. When you combine these new features with Shoei’s often copied coverless Quick Release Base Plate system, you get the quietest flip up helmet available today!
Shoei has never compromised when it comes to comfort, and the Multitec is no exception to this rule. The expanded polystyrene liner has been reshaped to provide a comfortable fit to even more riders in the North American market. Shoei actually utilizes separate head form molds for different markets around the world to ensure a custom fit for all. A snug yet comfortable fit is realized through the use of our three dimensionally sewn center pad and removable five layer cheek pads that are designed with a slit for glasses. These cheek pads are available in a wide range of thicknesses that enable our customers to customize the fit of the Multitec. The neck pad and included chin curtain work together to reduce the turbulence and noise entering from the bottom of the helmet.
Safety is the reason we wear helmets in the first place. For over forty years, Shoei has been known as the leader in safety and quality in motorcycle helmets. The Multitec utilizes Shoei’s AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) shell construction. AIM uses several different layers of fiberglass and high-performance organic fibers (each with different properties) to produce a lightweight shell that is both rigid and flexible. Our dual liner system uses dual density expanded polystyrene foam to provide increased comfort as well as safety. The softer foam sits close to the rider’s head and can crush much more easily, absorbing lighter impacts and even partially forming to the rider’s head. The denser foam sits closer to the helmet’s shell and is designed to absorb the energies of much more catastrophic impacts.
The Multitec’s redesigned face cover lock mechanism is all new and exceeds expectations for safety and convenience. The face cover lock utilizes metal pins and hooks, making it extremely resistant to opening in the event of an accident. At the same time, the large actuation button is easy to use even with gloved hands. |
