KBC Helmets - Looking After Your Helmet

GENERAL CARE & CLEANING OF KBC HELMETS
CARING FOR YOUR KBC HELMET CORRECTLY:
In order for your helmet to provide the maximum level of performance and service, proper care and attention to it's condition and general upkeep is essential.  Clean the exterior and interior of your helmet regularly.  Use a soft cloth with mild detergent, using only lukewarm water.  Never use gasoline (petrol), thinners, benzene or any other solvents or chemicals because they can adversely effect the shock absorbing inner liner and plastic components.

The comfort liner and cheek pads are fully removable, washable and replacements are available through your KBC dealer.  Carefully hand wash and air dry the comfort liner and cheek pads when required.  When the comfort liner is damp or wet due to perspiration or rain, always dry the helmet and liner in the shade, gentle air movement through the material will speed the drying process.

KBC Motorcycle Helmets - Internal Damage

Although KBC helmet is solidly constructed, it should be handled with care and should be replaced in the event of your either dropping the helmet onto a hard surface or rough handling.  Such abuse may damage the painted surface finish or decrease its ability to protect.

IMPACT: Do not wear the helmet after an impact for any reason, even if there are no visible damage showing on the helmet, damage may have been caused to the internal structures of the helmet and it's ability to absorb further energy may have been compromised.  REPLACE IMMEDIATELY.

The internal layers of EPS are critical to the energy absorption performance of the helmet and any damage which could compress this material will reduce the ability to absorb the impact energy and thus transmit more energy to the rider's head and critical organs.

Tightly fasten the chin strap by passing the end of the strap through the D rings as shown in figure (A), then pull the strap comfortably tight for a secure and snug fit.  After securing the chin strap, lift up firmly on the rear of the helmet to try to roll the helmet off your head in a forward direction.  If your helmet fits correctly it should should be impossible to remove the helmet in this way.  NOTE: If the helmet comes off your head during this test, please consult with your KBC dealer to find another model that this does not happen with.
To remove the helmet, pull the D Ring tab (usually red woven material) outward to release the strap tension as shown in figure (B), then unthread the chin strap.  Pull the chin straps outward then rotate your helmet forward and lift it off.
CAUTION: modifications: Do not make any modification on the chin strap.  Do not make any modification on the interior.  Do not cut or extract or modify any parts of the polystyrene, as you could drastically reduce the impact absorption features of the helmet.  Use only KBC genuine parts when you replace any part of your helmet, please refer to your local KBC dealer for information on parts and accessories available.
