HJC are the self-proclaimed ‘best helmets in the world’. The HJC range of helmets offers exceptional value for money, even though the brand didn’t quite have the same brand appeal as Arai or Shoei. Their helmets have always fared well in consumer tests and rider feedback, providing quality at an affordable price.
HJC and Ben Spies:
Along comes Ben Spies and the new RPS10 helmet which positions itself as the top level full face helmet in the HJC line-up.

HJC RPS-10 Quality
Looking at the limited edition graphic paint job on the Ben Spies helmet, it is easy to see how years of manufacturing a quality helmet has paid off for HJC. They definitely know how to finish a helmet providing a great looking, evenly painted finish for the Texas graphics.
The RPS10 definitely has a better quality finish than some of the less expensive HJC helmets in the line-up, so I if your hands-on experience of HJC helmets has only been the less expensive models, then we would definitely recommend you take a good look at the RPS10 Ben Spies and you may be pleasantly surprised. |
HJC RPS-10 Inner Lining
The lining fabric is smoother than that used on some other helmets (such as Shoei), but in some parts the padding is not as thick as it could be. The RPS10 has an internal shape that is neutral to slightly narrower.
RPS10 Ventilation and Air Flow
The top of the helmet uses a rolling wheel for opening and closing the venting system. This system offers 5 settings for opening the top vents, instead of the usual open or close.
This vent directs air towards the brow of the head. Overall the HJC RPS10 offers better than average ventilation. Overall the sound levels are considered adequate for this price of helmet (neither excessively loud nor quiet).
HJC RPS10 Summary
The RPS-10 helps bring some ‘badge prestige’ to the HJC line-up of helmets for 2011. The build quality is exceptional and the graphics offered really help this helmet to hold its own with the likes of the Shoei Qwest. Add Ben Spies into the equation, and you have the makings for a great quality sportbike helmet, that isn’t going to break the bank.
